Defence Minister appreciates role of Indian Army handling current security situation

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said that the government is committed to facilitating the Army in their forward movement on the road to reforms and will help them in achieving advantages in all areas.
 
Addressing the Army Commanders' Conference in New Delhi today, he said, the initiatives undertaken by the Indian Army in the current security environment makes him proud.

Mr. Singh asserted that the government will leave no stone unturned to strengthen the Armed forces.
 
He said, the Indian Army has been successful in addressing several challenges to the security and sovereignty of the country since Independence.

The Defence Minister added that the Army has played a significant role in neutralising threats of terrorism, insurgency or external attacks.

Feb 10, 2021 ,  8:46PM Massive rescue and search operation continues in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand AIR Pics In Uttarakhand, a team of more than 800 personnel comprising various forces including marines from Navy continued rescue and search operation throughout the day at the calamity site in Chamoli district. Two more bodies were recovered today and the death toll has reached 34 now. AIR Correspondent covering the calamity reports that around 170 people are still missing and some of them are feared to be trapped in the tunnel. Around 170 people are still missing and 25 to 35 persons are feared to be trapped in the tunnel. The herculean effort to reach the trapped people through the slush and heavy boulders continued on the fourth consecutive day at the calamity site in Chamoli district.
