Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu calls all party meeting today for smooth conduct of the House

In view of the Budget Session of Parliament, Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu has called a meeting of leaders of all parties in the Upper House today. The meeting will be held to seek support of the political parties to ensure smooth conduct of business in the Rajya Sabha. The Budget Session began on Friday with President Ram Nath Kovind's address to the Joint Sitting of both the Houses of Parliament. On Friday, Lok Sabha Speaker On Birla also held a meeting with the  leaders of the political parties in the Lok Sabha to ensure smooth functioning of the House. AIR correspondent reports that the Union Budget 2021-22 will be presented in Parliament at 11 AM tomorrow.

During the Budget Session, discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address, Financial Business relating to Union Budget, essential legislative and other Business will be taken. During the session, as many as 38 items including 33 Bills and five financial items will be taken up. In view of COVID-19 pandemic, the Rajya Sabha will function from 9 AM to 2 PM and Lok Sabha will function from 4 PM to 9 PM. The first part of the session will conclude on 15th February while the second part of the session will begin on 8th of March and  conclude on 8th April.
