EC says, advance deployment of Central Police Forces in poll-bound areas during LS, Assembly elections is a routine affair

Election Commission has clarified that advance deployment of Central Police Forces in poll-bound areas during Lok Sabha and Assembly elections is a routine affair. Taking note of media reports that Central Police Forces are being sent specifically to West Bengal, the Commission said, this practice has been going on since the late 1980s. It said, Central Police Forces are routinely sent to all the poll bound States and UTs for advance area domination, especially in critical and vulnerable sectors.

The Election Commission added that during the last Lok Sabha elections also, Central Forces were sent to all States and UTs and the same has been done in all State Elections which have been taking place. The Commission further added that the Central Police Forces  have been sent to all the five States and Union Territory namely Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry where Assembly Elections are to take place. Further, the Commission stated that the orders for deployment of Central Police Forces were issued to the Chief Secretaries, the DGPs and the Chief Electoral Officers of these five States and UT on the same day, i.e.16th of this month.

11 per cent GDP growth projected by Economic Survey 2020-21 for next financial year

Economic Survey 2020-21 has projected  GDP growth for the next financial year at 11 per cent. It has suggested that the growth recovery will be driven by government consumption. The Economic Survey  2020-21, tabled by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Lok Sabha today suggested that the net exports and government consumption have cushioned the growth from further plunge. It says that the GDP for the current financial year is estimated to contract by 7.7 per cent. It further says that the nominal GDP for the next fiscal is expected to grow at 15.4 per cent. The Economic Survey gave a detailed analysis of India's V-shaped economic recovery after the shadow effect of the corona pandemic. It says that the mega vaccination drive supports the V-shaped recovery.
