India covers 92.8% seeding of ration cards with Aadhaar numbers

India has covered 92.8 per cent seeding of ration cards with Aadhaar numbers. The States and Union Territories have completed the Aadhaar seeding of about 21.91 Crore ration cards and around 71 Crore beneficiaries at the national level. This information was given by the Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Friday. She said, nearly four lakh 98 thousand Fair Price Shops in the country are having ePoS devices up to by 23rd of July.

An average of about one crore 50 lakh portability transactions are recorded on a monthly basis under One Nation – One Ration Card. It accounts for only about 10 per cent of total Public Distribution System transactions happening in the country. The Minister said, more than 29 Crore portability transactions have been recorded under the plan since its inception in August 2019.
