PM interacts with beneficiaries of PMGKAY in Madhya Pradesh; Says middlemen have been removed from the ration distribution process

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the government is focusing on the empowerment of the poor and workers across the country. While interacting with the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) in Madhya Pradesh through video conferencing, he said, be it the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana or the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Rozgar Yojana, the food and employment of the poor and workers were the main concerns from the very first day. Mr Modi said, in this time of worldwide crisis on livelihood, it is constantly being ensured that there is a minimum loss in India. For this purpose, many steps have been taken in the last year and are being taken continuously. Lakhs of crore rupees have been provided to small, small, micro industries to continue their work, he said.

The Prime Minister said, today if the schemes of the government are reaching the ground faster and are being implemented, there is a change in the functioning of the government behind it. There was a distortion in the earlier government system.

Mr Modi further said that, it is sad that in many districts of MP, there is a situation of rain and flood. Both the lives and livelihoods of many companions have been affected. In this difficult hour, the Union Government and the entire country is with the state. The country has given top priority to the poor in its strategy to deal with the crisis arising out of Corona.

The Prime Minister said, the efforts are being made to give strength to the poor, empowerment in the true sense in the last few years. Today, roads are being built in every village of the country, new jobs are being created, farmers have access to markets, poor people are able to reach hospital on time in case of illness.

Mr Modi said that another big campaign to empower villages, poor, tribals has been launched in the country. This campaign is to encourage our handicrafts, handloom, our workmanship of cloth. This campaign is to be vocal towards the local. With this spirit, the country is celebrating National Handloom Day today.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi spoke to beneficiary Rajendra Sharma, an auto rickshaw driver from Burhanpur. Rajendra Sharma said that besides Anna Yojna, he also received benefit under Jan Dhan and other schemes. He also thanked PM for the help during lockdown period.

The Prime Minister also spoke to beneficiary Maya Uikey from Hoshangabad. She said that free ration received under the scheme has benefitted her during crisis period of lockdown.

Mr Modi also interacted with beneficiary Deep Kumar Kori from Satna. He informed that there is no problem in getting the free ration. He also thanked PM for assistance by the government.

An intensive campaign to create more awareness about the scheme is being conducted by the State Government so that no eligible person is left out. The state is celebrating Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana Day today. Free ration will be distributed today to one crore 15 lakh families from 25 thousand 435 fair price shops in the state under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. While addressing the programme, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that Madhya Pradesh is one of the 32 states in the country where the eligible beneficiaries under One Nation, One Ration Card have the facility to take ration from any nearby government fair price shop.
