The Prime Minister also spoke to Swami Avdheshanand Giri and requested that Kumbh Mela should now only be symbolic as two shahi snans have already concluded. Mr Modi said, it will strengthen the fight against the pandemic. In his telephonic conversation, the Prime Minister also enquired about the health of Saints and thanked them for all kind of cooperation to the administration. Meanwhile, Mahamandleshwar Swami Avdheshanand Giri has urged people to follow the COVID guidelines and not to come to Kumbh in large numbers. He said, he honours the Prime Minister's call and added that protecting life is a great virtue.

Ten states account for over 79% of new cases

These states are Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan. Union Health Ministry said, Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 63 thousand 729. It is followed by Uttar Pradesh with over 27 thousand while Delhi reported more than 19 thousand 486 new cases. The five States of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala cumulatively account for over 65 per cent of India’s total Active Cases. Maharashtra alone accounts for over 38 per cent of the total active caseload of the country. The Ministry said, nine states and Union Territories have not reported any COVID19 deaths in the last 24 hours. In West Bengal, polling for the Fifth Phase of Assembly Elections begins this morning at 7.00 A.M. It will continue till 6.30 P.M. Polling is also being held simultaneously for the By-Elections of two Lok Sabha seats including Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh and Belgaum in Karnataka along with 12 Assembly Constituencies spread over nine states. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the people to vote in large numbers in today’s fifth phase of West Bengal elections. Apr 17, 2021 ,  8:03AM Cumulative number of COVID19 vaccine doses administered in country crosses 11.97 crore uniindia The total vaccinations across the country have approached nearly 12 crore mark on Friday with more than 26 lakh vaccine doses were administered. Today more than 66 thousand COVID Vaccination Centres were operational, marking a rise of an average of over 21 thousand operational Vaccination Centres. 45 thousand centres on an average are functional on any given day. Workplace vaccinations have also enabled such a high turnout of beneficiaries. The cumulative number of COVID19 vaccine doses administered in the country stands at 11 crore 97 lakh 87 thousand 239.

Apr 17, 2021 ,  7:59AM Railways Ministry approves to transport Liquid Medical Oxygen container trucks on Roll-on roll-off basis REPRESENTATIONAL IMAGE Indian Railways has given in-principle approval to transport Liquid Medical Oxygen container trucks on Roll-on roll-off (Ro-Ro) basis. In a first of its kind operation approved by the Railway Ministry, the Indian Railways will soon carry cryogenic tanker trucks loaded with Liquid Medical Oxygen from one part of the country to another. The decision has been taken by the Railway Ministry in view of request received from Maharashtra government for transportation of liquid oxygen into the state. The Railways have said that through this mechanism a significant amount of transportation cost and crucial time can be saved while delivering Medical Oxygen to Health care facilities, specially in view of surge in COVID cases.
