Jul 01, 2020 ,  8:10AM Railways to increase local train services from 200 to 350 in Mumbai from today PTI ( FILE PIC ) Railways has decided to expand to 350 local train services in Mumbai from today. At present, a total of 200 services are being run, out of which 130 services are running between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kasara/Karjat/Kalyan/Dombivali/Thane on main line and 70 services are running between CSMT and Panvel on harbour line.   150 more services will be added to the existing services making the total to 350 services. The number of services may be modified as per the requirement to ensure social distancing norms. AIR correspondent reports that considering the State Government's request to allow some more employees in essential services to travel by suburban local trains, railways have decided to add 150 more services from today.   These trains will halt at major stations only and will cater to the essential staff permit...

The Prime Minister noted that vaccination of India’s vast and diverse population will need to factor in issues including those related to management of medical supply chains, prioritization of at-risk population, coordination between different agencies involved in the process, as well as the role of private sector and civil society in this national endeavour. The company in a statement said it is the first indigenous COVID-19 vaccine to receive the approval. The Covaxin has been developed in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune. Jun 30, 2020 ,  7:59AM Door to door survey for COVID-19 in Delhi to be done in containment zones by July 6, says Union Home Ministry PTI Union Home Ministry has said that a door to door survey for COVID-19 in Delhi will be done first in containment zones on priority basis by 6th of July. The decision to extend the date has been taken as numbers of containment zones have increased to 435 in the city.The Ministry said, this will be followed by door to door testing in the entire Delhi. Delhi has recorded 2,084 fresh cases of COVID-19 taking the infection tally in the city to  85,161. A total 57 deaths have been reported in the national capital in the last 24 hours due to COVID-19. The number of active cases stands at 26,246 while 56,235 patients have recovered so far. As many as 16,329 patients are in home isolation.The number of containment zones in the city also jumped to 435.

Electronics and IT Ministry said in a release that these apps were banned in view of information available they are engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of the country, defence of the country and security of state and public order. The banned apps include TikTok, Helo and WeChat. Over the last few years, India has emerged as a leading innovator when it comes to technological advancements and a primary market in the digital space. At the same time, there have been raging concerns on aspects relating to data security and safeguarding the privacy of 130 crore Indians. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today launched a new web portal for issue of No Objection Certificate (NOC) for power projects and Research Survey Exploration Exploitation (RSEE) activities in the Indian Territorial Waters  and Exclusive Economic Zone. The  newly developed web portal will facilitate the applicants in submitting their proposals online for seeking Security Clearance from Defence Ministry  for undertaking Power Projects and RSEE activities. Announcing this the Textile and Jute Minister of Bangladesh Golam Dastagir Gazi said on Sunday that the state owned Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) will be provided 5000 crore Taka by the government to clear the arrears of workers. The Minister said that the mills will resume work later under the PPP or joint venture model. Golam Dastagir said that the just mills will be modernized in line with domestic and global demand. He said that the machinery of these mills is 60-70 years old and their production capacity has come down to zero. In the past 24 hours, 12 thousand ten people have recovered from Covid-19 and with this the recovery rate has reached 58.67 per cent. The Health and Family Welfare Ministry said, a total of 19 thousand 459 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the country within 24 hours taking the total number of cases to five lakh 48 thousand 318. In a single day, 380 deaths have been reported taking the nationwide toll to 16 thousand 475. Presently, the total number of active corona cases in the country is two lakh 10 thousand 120. Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research, ICMR said that one lakh 70 thousand 560 tests of corona virus samples were conducted by the various laboratories in the country within 24 hours. This is the third time the deadline has been extended. The divestment process for the national carrier was initiated on 27th of January this year. Chief Minister K Palaniswami said the government's decision will be conveyed to Madras High Court, which seized the matter, and secured its approval before transferring the case to the CBI. P Jayaraj and his son Fennix, arrested for 'violating' lockdown norms over business hours of their cellphone shop, died at a hospital in Kovilpatti on June 23, with their relatives alleging they were severely thrashed at the Sathankulam police station by police personnel earlier. The incident has triggered a national furore, leading to the suspension of four policemen, including two sub- inspectors.

The encounter broke out after security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Khul Chohar following information about the presence of terrorists in the area. The gunfight broke out after terrorists opened fire on the search party of the forces, who retaliated. The identity of the slain terrorists is being ascertained. One AK 47 Rifle and Two pistols have been recovered from their possession. Operation has concluded but search operation in the area is going on.

Biren Singh announced that the State government has decided to extend the lockdown for another 15 days with effect from 1st July 2020. Speaking to media persons this afternoon at Imphal, Chief Minister said that the government has also decided the opening of inter-district bus service from 1st July, 2020 by maintaining SOPs and guidelines issued by the government. In the past 24 hours, 13,832 people have recovered and with this the recovery rate of COVID-19 improved to 58.56 per cent.   In terms of recovery rate, top five States and Union Territories are Meghalaya, Tripura, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh wherein the recovery rate is above 76 per cent. A decision to this effect was taken at the high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa yesterday. This measure will start from July 5th.   In another decision taken, all the non essential Government offices will remain shut on every Saturdays and Sundays starting July 10th. In addition, night curfew has been extended from 8 pm to 5 am. It was also decided to increase ambulance services, and make public the information related to availability of beds and also the phone numbers of all nodal officers involved in containment of Covid-19.

The normal date for Monsoon to cover entire country is 8th July. IMD said, the Monsoon this year covered the entire country 12 days prior to normal date.   In the recent past, such early coverage of Monsoon over the entire country occurred in 2013 when it covered the entire country on 16th June 2013. The early advance over the central and northwest India was facilitated by formation of a low pressure area over Bay of Bengal which moved west-northwestwards and another cyclonic circulation over central India.   IMD said, Monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab. During past 24 hours, there has been fairly widespread rainfall activity over West Rajasthan and adjoining Punjab and Haryana.

Supreme Court permits Centre and CBSE to cancel remaining Board examinations

The Supreme Court today permitted the Centre and the CBSE to cancel the remaining board examinations due to COVID-19 pandemic and gave the go-ahead to its scheme to award marks to students for the cancelled papers scheduled to be held in July. A bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari and Sanjiv Khanna permitted the CBSE to issue the notification for the cancellation of examinations. The bench after perusing the notification of CBSE allowed the board to issue it and said that Class 10 and 12 exams of CBSE scheduled for July 1-15 will be governed by this order.  During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre and the CBSE, said that the assessment scheme will consider marks achieved by students in the last three papers of board exams.
