The international bank said, given the significant uncertainty amid Covid-19 effects on the economy, the real India GDP growth could be in the range from 7.5 percent to 12.5 percent. The World Bank in its South Asia Economic Focus Spring update report said that it has revised the projection amid a strong rebound in private consumption and investment growth. The international bank noted that government consumption is expected to rise by about 16.7 percent during the reported fiscal. The World Bank, however, sounded a warning as economic activity is well below pre-Covid-19 estimate. The deadline to link PAN with Aadhaar had ended yesterday.  Earlier, the Centre had extended the deadline to 31st March 2021 from the previous deadline of 30th June 2020 because of the pandemic.

These include over 82 lakh 47 thousand Healthcare workers who have taken the first dose and over 52 lakh 38 thousand Healthcare workers took the second dose. Besides, over 91 lakh 34 thousand Frontline workers have taken the first dose while more than 39 lakh 23 thousand Frontline workers received the second dose of COVID vaccine.   Over three crore beneficiaries of 60 years above received the first dose and more than 86 thousand got the second dose. Whereas more than 76 lakh 74 thousand beneficiaries aged 45 and above with comorbidities took the first dose and more than 13 thousand were given the second dose.  The Ministry said, a total 13 lakh 4 thousand 412 vaccine doses were given till 7 pm yesterd...

All of them were engineering students and were accused of working for the terrorist organisation, Indian Mujahideen. They were arrested by the ATS in 2014. While six of them are from Sikar, three are from Jodhpur, one each from Jaipur and Pali and one from Gaya in Bihar.  The 13th accused person was acquitted.   All the 13 persons were arrested on the basis of specific inputs from Jaipur, Sikar and other districts in 2014. They were accused of being connected to SIMI and giving shape to terrorist activities. The Rajasthan ATS had registered an FIR in this case on March 28, 2014.

Electoral bonds have been pitched as an alternative to cash donations made to political parties as part of efforts to bring transparency in political funding. Only the political parties registered under Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act and which secured not less than one per cent of the votes polled in the last General Election to the House of the People or the Legislative Assembly of the State, will be eligible to receive the electoral bonds.

The Health Ministry said, more than thirty seven thousand patients recovered within 24 hours and with this one crore thirteen lakh patients have already recovered from the infection.   However, the active caseload is continuously rising in the country due to sudden spike in the cases reported from various States. At present, there are more than five lakh forty thousand active cases in the country which comprises 4.47 per cent of the total positive cases.

These are Maharashtra, Punjab, Chattisgarh, Karnataka, Gujarat & Madhya Pradesh. The number of active cases in the country today stands at just above 4 lakh 86 thousand, comprising around 4.06 per cent of the total reported cases. Three hundred and twelve deaths were reported in the last 24 hours due to COVID-19 taking the cumulative toll to 1 lakh 61 thousand 552. In the same time period, over 28 thousand people recovered from the infection. Recovery rate in the country presently stands at  94.59 per cent. Indian Council of Medical Research says, over 11 lakh 81 thousand samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country yesterday.

The test report should not be older than 72 hours. The decision was taken in view of a surge in Covid-19 cases in recent time. AIR correspondent reports that the state recorded 2,276 cases yesterday. This is the highest daily count so far. A total of 1,534 people were discharged from hospitals during the day. The number of active cases in the state has risen to 10,871. At 760, Surat recorded the highest number of new cases in the state yesterday, followed by Ahmedabad with 612 cases, Vododara with 326 and Rajkot with 172 cases., The new wave of Covid 19 in the state has also hit two of the country's premier educational institutions such as IIM Ahmedabad and IIT Gandhinagar. Police said a joint team of security forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Wangam  following the intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the village. As the joint team approached towards the suspected spot, the terrorists fired upon them and in retaliation, two terrorists were gunned down. The identity of the slain terrorists is being ascertained. Arms and ammunition have also been recovered from their possession.   One Army soldier also attained martyrdom in the encounter while another injured soldier was evacuated to Army's 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar.
